Food: Excellent and convenient if you want your bento/teriyaki quick fix. But The meal is quality in taste!
The lines tend to get long for a reason so let the food do the talking.
Service: Staff is friendly and quick. The location is only for take-out. Know that there is no dine in option.
I recommend calling in advance if you want to pick up your meal because ordering directly from the store can take 15-20min wait, this also depends on what type of meal you are ordering and how many.
Its great to check out the Japanese mart right next door while you wait for your meal to cook!

Oyako donburi: Came out hot and delicious. The chicken and onions were especially tender. Portion was perfect. Would get again!
Pro tip: Head to Suruki next door to grab a drink or snack to save a little $.
Kaz is my go to lunch place in San Mateo. The bento boxes are so delicious and filling! My favorite is the beef teriyaki bento with an order of their spicy chicken wings! The service is always prompt and food comes out quick during their lunch rush!

Love Kaz! It's a place where I'm okay getting it to go and eating it at a park, home, or anywhere! The food is really good especially the bbq chicken and the pasta salad!
I got the Korean BBQ chicken and rice.
It was excellent, I am generally a small-portion eater, and somehow I ate the entire dish in one sitting. Why not 5 stars? I don't have a good answer to that. Solid 4 on that dish. Perhaps the next visit will up it to a 5.
Food is amazing! Quality is hit or miss depending on who's in the kitchen, however you can't really beat the price in the Bay Area. Teriyaki flavors are pretty authentic!
Service is good when they're not busy, but I wish I didn't have to get cash every time I'm craving it! But hasn't stopped us yet. Not much ambiance since it's just a kitchen and cashier, but no one goes here for the glam
